Ripe Puerh

Smooth and mellow ripe Puerh tea

About Ripe Puerh Tea

Ripe Puerh, also known as Shou Puerh, is a style of Puerh tea that undergoes accelerated fermentation through a process called "pile fermentation" (wo dui). This creates a smooth, mellow, and immediately drinkable tea that is gentle on the stomach.

Our Ripe Puerh Collection

Our ripe Puerh teas range from everyday drinking teas to premium palace-grade selections made from tender buds. We carefully select teas that have been properly fermented and aged, ensuring clean, smooth flavors without any unpleasant pile or fishy notes.

Characteristics

  • Flavor: Smooth, mellow, earthy with notes of chocolate, wood, and sweet dates
  • Aroma: Deep and rich with earthy, woody fragrances
  • Texture: Thick and silky, coating the mouth pleasantly
  • Liquor Color: Deep reddish-brown to almost black

Aging and Improvement

While ripe Puerh is immediately drinkable, it continues to improve with age. The rough edges smooth out, the taste becomes cleaner and sweeter, and medicinal notes may develop. Well-aged ripe Puerh (10+ years) is particularly prized for its smoothness and warming properties.

Health Benefits

Ripe Puerh is renowned for its digestive benefits and warming properties. It is gentle on the stomach and traditionally consumed after meals. It may help reduce cholesterol, aid in weight management, and contains beneficial probiotics from the fermentation process.
